The 12 for 12k Challenge is the combination of social media awareness and fund-raising that aims to change the lives of millions worldwide.
So says Toronto based Founder Danny Brown.
Officially launched in January 2009, The 12 for 12k Challenge uses social media outposts like Facebook and Twitter, coupled with Blog Partners, to get the word out about causes and charities in need. In order to ensure as much of the funds raised goes to those in need, all partners offer their time and services for free.
The idea of 12 for 12k was to highlight one charity each month throughout 2009 and raise funds by connecting the charity with donors through social media. On January 10, 2010 Danny announced that the organization would be continuing in 2010 and just how much had been raised in 2009.
My Perspective
I was fortunate to meet Danny online last year. I had been following his blog trying to get a better understanding of how to use social media effectively. Danny has a brilliant way of boiling down a particular subject into it’s most important elements.
The same is true with his interest and involvement in social good. Simply put, he gets it. His humble manner (and probably his UK charm) leads others to the cause.
I have yet to meet Danny in person. Truth is, I don’t have to in order to see his vision and feel his heart for those in need.
I fully support The 12 for 12k Challenge. In my humble opinion – you should too.
P.S. The March charity is Boundless. Get more information and contribute here.
